In rememberance

I found Ron's dad's obit online, and I thought I'd save it here for Laurel and Miah. "Berbert" was like a grandfather to my girls, and they loved him very much. He was one of the nicest men I'd ever met. I'd like mom to comment here and tell everyone about the peanuts and squirrls in the backyard....if she wouldn't mind. It's a cute and funny story....

James Delbert Bowles


LOUISVILLE - James Delbert Bowles, 87, formerly of Metcalfe County, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Baptist Hospital East.

He was the son of the late Halvey Neil and Susie Blanche Bowles of Metcalfe County. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Louisville and was retired from The Marley Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 67 years, Alice “Deanie” Bowles; four children: Ronald of Glasgow, Joseph of St. Louis, Mo., Jimmy of Louisville and Debra Walker of Sulphur Well; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many cherished friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. CST Thursday, Feb. 26, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial to follow in the Asbury-Center Cemetery at Center. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
