Not again! Well...ya, again.

I hate to confess, but I feel like I have to.  I stopped going to Weight Watchers.  I had sort of a melt down.  While trying to learn and get used to the new system, I also had to try to pay attention to my salt intake and cholesterol levels, and I got overwhelmed.  Oprah says that when you need to learn a lesson, the Universe whispers to you.  If you don't listen, it starts yelling.  I got yelled at this morning in the form of GMA's health contributor, talking about salt intake and what too much will do to your body.  My doctor had told me pretty much the same thing.  My body has been telling me too.  I was so swollen this morning from the Chinese food we ate in honor of Jay's birthday, that I had gained seven pounds.  Some of that I'm sure are more fat cells, but I know for sure some was water.  My fingers hurt, and my ankles are swollen from too much yard work and excessive salt.  Damn General Taos.
So today I went back to see my friends at WW.  Anita noticed, and said she missed me.  A couple of others mentioned that I was back...including one fellow army wife (ret.).  They make me feel good.  I get the feeling that they actually notice when I'm gone, and they let me know it's great that I'm back.
I am fully committed to this.  I AM going to loose some weight, but more importantly I will NOT die of a salt induced heart attack.
I've done it before, and dammit I will do it again!  Do me a favor, AND HOLD ME TO IT, OKAY?

Weight Watchers Update

I know, it's way past Tuesday, and I keep forgetting to post updates....But I lost 1.6 lbs this week! It's amazing what loosing almost ten pounds can do to make your clothes fit better!
Meanwhile, I'm using this week's spring break to get caught up on big household chores, the kids have been working their little tails off with me. Today we are planting our garden. Yesterday we turned the dirt over, and paid for it with blisters. We've been doing some major spring cleaning, my favorite of which was finally getting the Harry Potter closet (The closet under the stairs, get it?) cleaned out and organized. The kids rooms are a big project for later today, the front yard got mowed and raked, the kitchen got rearranged and scrubbed from top to bottom, the front room got dusted, polished, and vacuumed, and the art room got a good once over too. This is the main reason that I haven't really been on the computer for the past week. Too busy! I'm off to my favorite store to buy supplies...Lowe's!
On a sadder note...my hometown has had a couple of big losses in the past weeks. I hate not being close enough to be able to do much to help, but please keep these two families in your thoughts, one family loosing everything including family members to a house fire, and the other loosing so many family members in an accident on the highway. I know that small towns are great for many things, and helping during tragedy is one of them. There is nothing like the outpouring of love and help you can be on the receiving end of, like my family was when our house burnt to the ground in 1998. You guys are in my thoughts as I look around my home and appreciate what and who I still have with me.

Weight Watchers

Just a quick update, I lost .4 this week, Jay lost bunches more...
One question I'd like all of you to answer, When you do your grocery shopping, how do you do it?
I make a two week menu, then a list (in the order in which the items are stocked in the store, so it's easier) then I hit the store. Every meal is planned, and I never have to wonder what is in the kitchen. Now, at the meeting this week, we were discussing how to be prepared, and not have foods that would sabotage your weight loss goal. When I told everyone my method, I was met with incredulous gasps, which surprised me. One person said I was too regimented and if you know me, I think you are laughing right now. Too organized? Me? I wish! I can't figure out how anyone else shops. Leave me a comment, and let me know!

A Day in the Snow

Harley apparently loves snow, snowballs, catching them, and eating them. It actually snowed here the other day, but only lasted a full 24 hours, before melting all over us.
Poor Miah was sick all break long, and is still out of it, so she missed all the fun. I let her go out for a minute to walk through the snow, and just wait till you see how her Daddy let her leave the house. (You can't see it in the pic, but she's wearing a floor length pink nightgown under the sweatshirt, and her Daddy's tennis shoes)
I forgot to post about WW last week, so as of today I've lost 5.5 lbs! Slow going, but I have no complaints.
The rest of the post is just going to be pictures...enjoy!

Weight Watchers

Drum roll please......Thank you!
This week I lost 1.4 lbs, and Jay lost 4lbs! (gonna sneak feed him m&m's in his sleep...) This means that with last week's .6b loss, I get to add two more beads to my bracelet! Yay!

I lost .6 lbs this week. No more using my extra weekly points. I hardly used any, but it made a huge difference! I also started exercising more. I hurt. It's worth it. I've been leaving January's O magazine open in the bathroom, to all the incredibly encouraging advice. It reminds me to say this mantra, which is helping, a bit at a time, "I've done it before, I'll do it again!" The year Jay was in Korea, I lost about 80 lbs, so I know I have the strength to do it. I'm going to do it again!

New Year, New Me?

So, here we go again. I finally went back to weight watchers today. After having issues, I'm good to go back. Err. I forgot what a whole lot of work it is. I have to do something though, because I seem to be sick an awful lot lately, and I need to get healthy. So starting this afternoon I'm back on the wagon. Don't wish me luck, wish me motivation, and will power!
I've really been lax in my blogging lately, mostly because there isn't anything going on that I can talk about. Certainly not anything I'd want to read if I were an outsider reading this blog! The kid went to Florida with Mom and Ron for two weeks over the holidays, which meant that amongst the every-fourth-day staff duty, Jay and I were alone! What did we do with this time? I'm not ashamed to say that we mostly watched every single rated R movie that has come out in the past two years. Oh, was it fun! The two stand outs for me were Inglorious Bastards, and Dead Girl. The former because any type of Hitler era movie/story gets me excited (can't go into detail, b/c a friend hasn't seen it yet, but the movie was intense!) and the latter because it was just so absolutely raw and disturbing.
The other big thing we did was shopping. We went on a hunt for a new table for the front room. We had had a trunk in between the two couches, but it was heavy, hard to move, and too darned tall. We went to South Carolina, several antique shops here, and finally after seeing a huge amount of over priced tables that we'd have top saw the legs off of anyway, we found a rugged, painted, worn down and beat up table that had just enough leg height that we could saw them down to our desired size. It's a funky green now, but as soon as it gets warm out I'll be out there with my sander and some stain. My favorite feature of the table is that it has a leaf, and pulls out really far, so we have enough space to play games, sit Japanese style and eat dinner, or simply plop our stuff and our feet down. We bought a new miter box and took it down about a foot as soon as we got home, and it's perfect!
I spent a lot of time alone too. Between Staff Duty, and the day after catching up on sleep, I spent many an hour trying to entertain myself. Some of which was spent making jewelry See below picture for my latest) and some was spent reading. I read the new thousand page Stephen King novel in less than a week, and started a trashy historical novel I had first read as a kid. Oh, Stephen, your constant reader was not disappointed! As a matter of fact I was quite happy with the ending, which sometimes doesn't happen with one of his novels. Again, I cannot go into the story line because Jay is still reading it, but I'll tell you, it was worth the wait.
Well, sadly, it's time for me to let the dogs back in and go get the girls. I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of my latest necklace...

Weight Watcher's Tuesday

Totally forgot to post yesterday....

I lost .2 lbs yesterday. Not a lot, I know...but it's better than nothing!

*******************************************************************

The only news I really have is that the air conditioner is STILL not fixed. We've been fine for the most part, but it's stinking hot in the bedroom. The rental management company offered to pay for us to go to a hotel until the air was fixed, because it's supposed to be above 90 off and on for a while, but we declined. I can't imagine trying to occupy myself at a hotel all day until the coil part they need is ready, and I didn't see the point of driving to the hotel at 8 pm every night, then driving back home in the morning. Especially considering we'd have to drive both cars over if I'm to have any freedom. It's crazy. All I can say is that it's a darned good thing I love this house!
The other day I was outside all day long (slightly cooler out there) and read an entire novel from cover to cover. I ate lunch out on deck, and sprouted new freckles across the bridge of my nose and my shoulders. Miah is going to have a field day with that! (she hates freckles, and will scream at you if you mention hers...but they are soooo darned cute!) It was a great way to spend a day.
This morning I ordered 47 new books for free! A lot of classics are free, but there are also some mystery novels, and (cringe) romance novels for free too. I just got done reading the "Reincarnationist" that I got for about $5, and I loved it. I know I've said it a million times, but I love my Kindle. It has now paid for itself several times over.
I made Chicken Tikka Masala for dinner last night, along with Basmati rice, and I'm seriously considering making it again this weekend. I'm addicted to the stuff. Not very weight watchers friendly though. The rice by itself is by nature many more points than regular rice, even though I cook it with plain water. It sucks, because this rice tastes sooo much better! Ha...this is getting pretty boring!
I should mention two things....My friend's Grandma passed away, which totally sucks, but hopefully she is in a better place, where there is no cancer...
And Mi Madre broke her shoulder! Good thing she has the Meemer and Boo to take care of her.
Big hugs to everyone, and I wish I could be in three places at once. I hate that I'm so far removed from everyone.

Weight Watcher's Tuesday

Drum Roll please..........

I lost 3.4 lbs this week!!!!!

Freakin' A! It works!

LOL

I took the whole family with me to the meeting so that we could go out afterwards, and the Leader swooned over Jay. It was so funny. She told him at least twice he was cute, maybe even three times (Well, he IS) ((She's 60, so it's cute she was swooning. He he he))

Miah was so well behaved, holy cow. Laurel as usual hardly spoke, but Anita tried. It was a good meeting.

It's hotter than hell in this room (still no air conditioner, Jay's calling tomorrow to find out what's up.) so I'm going to go sit under the ceiling fan, and cool off. I have tons of pics and such, so darned it as soon as it's less than 80 in the art room, I'll start posting them. Until next time...

Weight Watcher's Tuesday

I lost 1.2 LBS. this week! Thank goodness! Yay! This week I start doing Yoga again.
The topic this week was how to survive Memorial weekend. Easy for me, b/c we don't do anything...But Laurel's Birthday is coming up the same week....So I'll have to be extra careful.
I really got into the meeting today, and since I've been doing this off and on for a while, I knew a lot of tips to help the newbies. My W.W. meeting Leader seems to like me, b/c she keeps asking me questions in the meeting, and calling me to be the "captain" (as she called it) of group activities. LOL This leadership things seems to follow me wherever I go. I swear to God I don't do anything....
Anyway, It was a great meeting, and I'm now off to watch the View and do laundry.
See ya later!
P.S. I am from the North...so can someone please explain to me what Hash Rice is? Everyone was talking about how it was soooo good, and sooo hard to resist....I've never heard of it! I got called out as "not from around here." Pretty funny. I haven't been "from around here" for more than twenty years!

So I forgot...

Last week I was so busy I forgot to post on Tuesday! I just wanted to do a quick report, since tomorrow I will be doing it again...
I lost .4 last week, and I was SHOCKED b/c of the wonderful election day party I threw, and then the Volunteer Appreciation dinner last weekend!
In other news..Homecoming ceremonies abound, some friends are home, and I'm still counting down till Jay gets home. We are all getting really antsy here, so much so that I rearranged the entire front room last night after the kids went to bed. It was pretty funny to come downstairs with the girls and watch them look around (thinking something is wrong here....)
I basically moved the antique couch around so that my big dining room table has room to stretch, because we think (please please please) that Jay might be home in time for Thanksgiving dinner!!!
I still have some things to sort through before I'm done, but I got seriously motivated last night and things are such a mess that I have no choice but to stay motivated!
I am off to drop off rental movies and go have lunch with Renee, so I'll let you know how weight watchers goes tomorrow!
