No More Hair!

I just got tired of it!  I thought Jay would have a cow about how short it is, but he keeps saying how cute it is.  He also has this habit of running his fingers through the back of it, even if I just spent ten whole minutes fixing it.  He's not used to me spending much time on my hair, or putting gel or hairspray in it, so clearly he doesn't get why I fuss at him.  lol

It looked a heck of a lot better just after I cut it, Sue made it fluffy and curled under, but every time I try, it flips up into little curls...

Locks of Love Part Deux

Me, before:

Me, after:

Isn't it funny sometimes, how life puts you exactly where you need to be? I made an appointment at a salon that was literally around the corner from my house. It's the only one that I've seen down here and remembered the location, because the name is Sybil's which reminds me of the novel of the same name about a girl with multiple personalities. It's funny, because the place sells wigs....Get it? Each time one of my girls dons a wig, they have a different personality, grandma, princess....maybe it's just me. I think it's funny, and that's why this place stuck in my memory. It turns out that these guys do so many Locks of Love donations that now they put them in a box and send them all off for the customer instead of having them sent off individually. Sue played with my now short hair, and talked me into trusting her (I know!) and I ended up with this cute little bob. The picture doesn't do it justice, because it's fluffy and bouncy, and curled under just so...Sue even showed me how to do it. How cool is that? I have never walked into a place with a picture of the cut I want and had anyone have the guts to tell me it wasn't right for me. And sure as heck never showed me how to fix it up!
As soon as I was done I had just enough time to run to target while I still remembered all the things she told me I needed. I spent a little too much, but it was fun to be girly for once. The problem is that with all of this arctic wind, my hair fell flat as soon a a gust hit me in the face! Bah!
I can't tell you how good it feels to have 12 inches cut off my hair. My head felt lighter immediately! Also, instead of a half an hour to blow dry my hair, it too maybe 5 minutes to get done, and it swishes when I tip my head. I love it. It feels free! I did notice under all those nasty lights that I have the widest jaw on the planet! When did that happen, and why is it that your mirror at home tells you you look great, and when you go out every reflective surface you encounter calls your mirror a lying bastard? I call bullshit! I resolve to never glimpse in someone Else's mirror again....
In other news, I've been sooooo good this week. I actually can't wait to get on the scale! I'll pretend that I'm not getting the munchies at 3 every day, if only this extra weight will go away faster. Hopefully this time next year I'll be laughing at three o' clock!
So, what do you think of the new do?

Locks of Love

I have an appointment in about an hour to chop off all of my hair! I've been holding off for a while, waiting for it to be long enough to donate to http://www.locksoflove.org/ I'm going to post pictures after the deed is done. I haven't had hair off my shoulder since Virgil came over one day, saw my new do, and said, "Oh, Stacy, What have you DONE!" Hahaha! That WAS a really bad cut. No kidding, the only pic of that hair was my driver's license, and thank god it's long expired now! I have a pic of the cut I want, so hopefully all will be well. Gulp. See you here in a couple of hours with the results!
From the site:

WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE?

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

And that's just awesome! It's easy to do too.

Laurel Loo and The New Do!

Curious? Here's Boo's New Do! She said she wanted to look more like Daddy-which of course melted his little heart, and he didn't complain too much. :) I'd like to point out that this was supposed to wash out in 22 washes, and it's not fading. As a matter of fact, her roots are coming in, before the color fades! What the hell??

Trying to be serious. Only pulled off looking cute!

Look at those BLUE eyes!

Weaving vines into crowns.

Not a lot has been going on. I did find a Weight Watcher's center here...I'm on week two (all over again) and now that we are settled, I can focus again. I am going to start posting on Tuesdays again as soon as I weigh in Next Tuesday. I debated whether I wanted to post how much I weigh, but I decided it's none of your business!! LOL

I bought an antique Hoosier cabinet to use as an island in my kitchen:

It's an awesome addition to the space. It is amazing how much space this one more cabinet gave me. I find that I use it as a prep station much more than the built in cabinets now. It's just feels more natural. That was a great buy for $150.00!

There are only 6 more days of school left here. I'm glad to be able to sleep in a bit, but nervous about how I'm going to occupy the girls for three months. I'm thinking that a lot of garden and yard work are in order!

Laurel received honors last week for her grades, and I had to sit through the worst ceremony possible. I know you are supposed to sit there all proud and happy, but they turned it into a replica of the band/chorus concert I'd seen last night, PLUS a girl singing a Kelly Clarkson (I think) song who couldn't sing very well. It killed my ears, and oh, how sometimes I wish that parents didn't have to show up for some of this stuff. The only good part of the morning was that I got to hear Laurel's band play the National Anthem, and to also find out that this is the first time that the sixth grade band has been good enough to play the piece (it is a hard piece of music to play) Jay attributes this to Laurel's self proclaimed AWEsomeness.

(It literally took all day for this to load, so I hope you enjoy it! Holy cow this thing is slow!)

I recently bought a couple of antique typewriters and cameras to decorate my mantel with. As I'm exploring the bigger camera, I think, why not try to take a digital photo through the lens, or through the back of the camera even? I played with both cameras for a while and this is what I came up with. Mind you, the subject is half dressed, and eating popcorn, so it's not the best pic ever, but it has potential. I'd love to find actual film for the camera and try it out. It's old but the parts all work. It anyone knows where I might find a source for old film....let me know!

We also found a farmer's market nearby, that has raw honey (it's incredibly good) and great produce. I made some awesome fried green tomatoes.

Well, that's about it! I've been under the weather for about a month now, but I think it's pretty much over now. The kids never did get sick, thank goodness! But now that I'm feeling up to par, I'll have a little more to write about.

Until next time!
